Exploring careers is a lot of fun. Once interests and aptitudes are known, clusters of careers can be reviewed.

The first step is to explore each prospective career. Here are some websites containing occupational information.

  • Vermont Career Gateway
      Unlocking your possibilties! The road to career and education decisions. Resources for parents, students, adults and professionals.
  • Our Occupational Information Center
      The Occupational Information Center is a one-stop source for a wide variety of occupational information. Wages, employment projections, employment by industry, licensing and educational requirements are all accessible from one convenient location.
  • Vermont Occupational Rankings
      At the Occupational Information Center you can get a list of occupations ranked in one of 5 different ways - such as Fastest Growing, Highest Paying or Largest Employment.
  • VSAC Pathfinders
      Guides on career and general topics that VSAC developed to help you find your way through the abundance of information available in the VSAC library and on the Web.
  • New York Career Zone
      A creative website, newly designed to provide in-depth information on a wide variety of exciting careers.
  • Vermont Guidance Central
      Vermont Guidance Central replaces CX Online. It's a comprehensive, Internet-based career development system for use by middle and high school students, adult learners and career educators.
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook
      Occupational Outlook Handbook from the US Department of Labor is the mother of all reference books on careers. It describes thousands of careers in great detail. You can purchase a hard copy but first try this online version.
  • Occupational Outlook Quarterly
      OOQ provides practical information on jobs and careers. Articles cover a wide variety of career and workrelated topics and are written in a straightforward, non-technical language.
  • America's Career Infonet
      America's Career Infonet is a national web page for career and job seekers. It provides links to general career sites, search engine career pages and much more.
  • Richard Bolles' Job Hunters Bible
      Richard Bolles, author of the classic "What Color Is Your Parachute", maintains this website which has some of the best career development and job search information on the web.
